The AHD-9 Sound Cannon[1] otherwise known as the Ultrasonic Cannon is a type of maritime sonic weapon used for tulkun hunting by Cetacean Operations.
Description[]
The Ultrasonic Cannon resembles a bright, orange searchlight-like device mounted on the Picador's starboard with three distinct flaps. Originally adopted from a design used for crowd control back on Earth,[1] the Cannon is a type of sonic weapon that has its resonators reconfigured to emit high-decibel acoustic pulses to disrupt the echolocation of a tulkun.[1] The effects causes intense pain and discomfort, prodding the tulkun into a suitable hunting spot to be butchered by a Matador's Harpoon Gun.[2]
The Ultrasonic Cannon is not meant to be a military weapon, but as a hunting tool. Nevertheless, its directed sonic shockwave can act as a powerful 'non-lethal' deterrent to any creature approaching the Picador.[1]
