The Limited 3D Edition is a home release of Avatar. The release will mark the first time it has been available in 3D as a stand-alone product. The previous 3D release was only available in bundles with 3D Panasonic televisions, although copies of the discs were circulated online.
As part of the announcement, a brief RDA commercial was produced, starring Stephen Lang as Miles Quaritch. The commercial advertised the RDA to future employees, and was mainly put together using footage from the film.
James Cameron commented on the release. "3D television is the future of home entertainment, I'm a huge proponent of the technology and very pleased that 'Avatar' can be viewed in the living room the way it is meant to be seen."
Jon Landau continued; "As the number of homes with 3D televisions continues to grow, we thought it was important to bring the biggest 3D film ever right into your living room. This is the only way fans should experience the world of Pandora and this release offers the highest picture quality possible."
