The first vinyl record release of the soundtrack Avatar: Music from the Motion Picture was released on May 26th, 2017 via At The Movies, the soundtrack imprint of Music on Vinyl. This is the first release of the Avatar soundtrack in a physical format outside of CD.[1][2]

Product Description[]

For Avatar, James Cameron hired long-time collaborator James Horner to provide the musical character for his sci-fi fantasy film.

The music had to match the images with its own power to transport us to a world of powerful emotions. It had to reach deep into the audience's hearts, to allow the viewers not only to see it, but to feel it. The music is the story's key to the emotional understanding of the film.

James Horner knew when he took on the scoring of Avatar that it would be the challenge of a lifetime. The music is both classic in its orchestral power, but also connects us to the soul of the Na'vi through the use of indigenous rhythms and vocals.

The 2LP comes in a gatefold sleeve with a 6-page insert. The first 5.000 copies were numbered and pressed on blue vinyl with a touch of silver.
