Avatar Live in Concert is a movie in concert type of event where a live orchestra performs James Horner's score with the full Avatar movie screened in the background.[3]
The concert premieres on October 27, 2024 in the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. The score is performed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and conducted by Ludwig Wicki, who has conducted countless concerts based on movies over the last 25 years, including Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings and James Bond.[2][4] The event is part of the venue's "Films in Concert" series. The film is screened with full original dialogue and subtitles. The approximate running time is 3 hours and 10 minutes, including a 25 minute intermission. The venue explicitly welcomes attendees in cosplay and fancy dress.[2]
Two weeks before the event, the venue announced that James Cameron will attend the event and be part of a 30 minutes pre-performance Q&A with Pierre O’Reilly (producer of the concert) and Simon Franglen (composer of Avatar: The Way of Water).[5][1]
Tour[]
On October 15, 2024, it was announced that the concert will go on an international tour.[6] Details have yet to be communicated.
