I liked movies like Alien, Terminator, Abyss, Sphere, Event Horizon, Predator and others cult movies which were not just in line with other SF movies like star wars or star track, BS. Galactica etc. So I would say that I liked Mr.James Cameron movies long time ago. Before I even heard for him. Of course I watched his Titanic move and I was pretty aware of it's success but I have heard for him (Mr.JC) just recently. It was a year ago when I first time heard for Avatar project and saw its first trailer. I must admit it caught me from the very first moment. But I would like to go back for some time like 15 years ago. I was a 18 years old fellow in the Serb Part of north Bosnia. And I remember that at that time in some period I was trying to f…
Good Lines, Bad Lines
Avatar has received a lot of criticism for its dialog and lack of character depth. While I don't necessarily agree with this, I did find a few lines that felt out of place or wrong. But there were also few great lines and exchanges of dialog and expression. My apologies if I don't have these exactly word for word. Here's my list:
Bad Lines, No Biscuit!
- "We will fight terror with terror." -- Possibly one of the most out of place lines in the entire film. Project 880 (the scriptment) sheds light on why this was said, but it is hopelessly out of place in the final film. Also to many it is a Bush-ism, and nobody wants that guy soiling their Pandoran fantasy!
- "That's right, you're mine now." -- Jake once he establishes Tsahaylu with his Ikran. I per…
Avatar Scripment
Hi Avatar Community! I've found this pdf archive. It may be fake, but I want to share it with you. I think it's the original scriptment, from Project 880
Happy New Year!!
First Paragraphs
Welcome to JOSH SULLY'S world. It is a century from now, and the population of our tired planet has tripled. Finally, drowning in its own toxic waste, starvation and poverty, the population has topped out at a nice even 20 billion. The Earth is dying, covered with a gray mold of human civilization. Even the moon is spiderwebbed with city lights on its dark side. Overpopulation, overdevelopment, nuclear terrorism, environmental warfare tactics, radiation leakage from power plants and waste dumps, toxic waste, air pollution, deforestation, pollution and overfi…
Avatar Addiction
Obviously many visitors to the Wiki are enthusiastic fans and probably as addicted as any of us who are contributing. I myself have become quite attached to the world of Pandora, and am quite happy to see it being so well received. I've seen to the 3D version four times with an IMAX viewing scheduled this weekend. The soundtrack has played nonstop and I've learned to play "I See You" on the piano by ear.
So, how addicted are you? How many times have you seen the film? Did you get to meet any of the actors or creators of the film? Were you there on opening night, on the blue carpet in London?

The MBA definition of capital: "the machinery, equipment and tools that multiply the productivity of human input to processes that create wealth"
But the key factor for wealth creation is missing and that is, and has always been, KNOWLEDGE. It is true that when kings and later "capitalists" usurped the land and resources, under "divine right" in the first instance and then "rule of law" in the second, they did turn people into serfs or later slaves with no freedoms. But the key to lording over the people has always been to keep them ignorant. While political freedoms have been granted to all peoples in the last century, we all remain today in a form…
Project 880 vs. Avatar
This is the 114 paged scriptment wrote before that Titanic, a scriptment known at the time as Project 880. This scriptment is very similar to the final movie in broad strokes, but in the details it's quite different. Much has been lost from the original scriptment, and much of what has been kept was abridged. I don't have much behind the scenes info on this - I don't know why Cameron made the changes that he made - but I think a film closer to the original scriptment would have been noticeably different and, in my opinion, much, much better. Some of this would be added depth of the world - a friend who read the scriptment compared it to seeing a Harry Potter movie and then reading the book upon which it was based; all of a sudden things are…
Avatar Wiki Traffic
The Avatar Wiki has been growing since it was founded, back on July 2009. Image From a Deleted Scene
Here is an image from a deleted scene. It's not much, but it's something ;) It would probably be released on the BluRay or DVD. I will feature this image on the main page.
Avatar sequels
Well it looks as if James Cameron is planning a saga of sequels, and perhaps more, not just to include more story (and make money), but to refine the CGI effects implemented into the first movie.
- Avatar 2 - See this page more more info and external links.
- I have noticed in the avatar book and movie, the idea of bringing some Pandoran wildlife to save Earth's enviroments, perhaps that will be in one of the future sequels.
- Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have signed for a trilogy, more story for Neytiri, Jake Sully and the Omaticaya Clan?
- Cameron has mentioned exploring the other moons orbiting Polyphemus as well.
- Defeating the RDA on Earth?

Na'vi Name for the Tree of Souls Request
Hi community!! Merry Christmas to you all!!! Sorry for my bad english, but does anyone know the na'vi name for the Tree of Souls? I've watched the movie on Internet in spanish, and in the minute 1:13 Grace is watching on the computer when Jake reaches the Tree with his banshee, and she says the name of the tree, is sth like "aybetraya aramunon" or sth like that. Can you help me? Thanks to you all and Merry Xmas!!!
Prayer Request
Hi Avatar Community,
Just before Neytiri tells Jake that "he is ready" to become one of "The People", Jake shoots a creature with his bow, and, when closer, kills it with his blade. Does anyone know the prayer/speech that he says to the creature just before killing it?

It's been a busy month for me, but I'm back now, so I'll be more active on this Wiki. I have a lot of work to do, primarily with era icons and the like. I'll get on that today.
But yeah. I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D in Seattle last night, and I take back everything I ever said about "3D" movies. It just completely blew my mind.
One of the things I liked the most was that they really took advantage of it, using it for small environmental effects like dirt being kicked up or dust specs and little floral debris floating through the air as much as the more obvious body parts faces being pushed into your field of view. Though, I was really hoping to have giant blue feet pushed into my face, and I got that in spades, so I'm happy.
There were one or two …

Avatar Without CGI
Avatar Live happened today and if you’re wondering what that means then here’s the short version: James Cameron, Zoe Saldana, and Sam Worthington sat around with an MTV peon and took carefully crafted questions designed to help them promote the film. The whole thing was streamed live online and in theory, they took questions from fans as well. In practice it turned out to be 5 or 6 questions from fans, all carefully chosen to put Avatar and its originality in the best possible light. What, you were expecting something else?
But one really surprising thing did come out of it. During the course of the interview they showed clips from the movie’s pre-production in which Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana dressed up like aborigines and went running…

Avatar: $500 Million Budget
Can a movie studio make money on a film based on an original and unfamiliar story, with no Hollywood superstars, a vanishing DVD market and a price tag approaching $500 million?
That question looms large for 20th Century Fox and its 3-D science-fiction film ‘‘Avatar,’’ among the most expensive movies ever. Despite many skeptics, the studio thinks it can turn a profit, in part because the film’s creator, James Cameron, was the driving force behind the studio’s immense hit ‘‘Titanic.’’
But just in case box-office receipts for ‘‘Avatar’’ fall short, Fox has worked hard to hedge its large bet on the movie.
Despite the estimated half-billion dollars spent on its production and marketing, ‘‘Avatar’’ may carry surprisingly little financial risk for …
