There's something we gotta do, but you're not gonna like it.Jake Sully to Bob before jumping on a toruk.
Bob is the banshee that was tamed by Jake Sully during his Iknimaya and is one of the few banshees to be ridden by an avatar.
History[]
Tamed by Jake Sully[]
Jake Sully, accompanied by Saeyla, Ka'ani, Tsu'tey and Neytiri, ventures to the banshee rookery to complete his Iknimaya. Jake chooses Bob as his ikran and, unlike the other banshees, Bob confronts Jake and hisses at him, indicating that Bob chose him as well. Using a banshee catcher, Jake immobilizes the banshee's mouth and after a long struggle, manages to connect his queue with Bob's. The bond is established and sealed with a joint flight, the start of which is chaotic as Jake is unable to mentally control his mount, but after a while, the two manage to learn to fly harmoniously.
First flights (Avatar and Avatar: Brothers)[]
Once Jake masters his banshee, he joins Tsu'tey and the other young hunters along with Neytiri on various flights. During a flight with Neytiri, Jake saw the Tree of Souls, the highest sanctity of the Na'vi. The next day, he and Bob participate in the sturmbeest hunt. Jake, hunting from the back of his banshee, manages to kill one of the beasts. Jake and Neytiri then go on a joint flight during which they are attacked by the Great Leonopteryx. By combining the agility of the ikrans and tactical thinking, Jake manages to lead Neytiri and their banshees to a place where the massive predator could not reach them.
After the Omatikaya hometree is destroyed thanks to the hands of the RDA and Jake is exiled from the Omatikaya clan after Jake revealed his actual mission to them, Bob finds his avatar wandering among the ashes of the destructive site. Jake knows he must do something to win back the clan's trust and he and Bob fly off to find the leonopteryx. After spotting it, Bob seems nervous, but Jake calms him before diving and jumping onto the leonopteryx, taming it and becoming Toruk Makto. Bob remains loyal to Jake and helps him and the toruk fight off a Samson that is in their way.
Future with Jake (Avatar: The Way of Water)[]
At some point, Jake reunited with Bob after he released the toruk back to the wild. Fifteen years later in 2170 Bob along with Jake attacked and destroyed a train and then took the weapons it contained to take them to the camp on the floating mountains.
However, due to the imminent return of humans, Jake and his family were forced into exile from the Omatikaya Clan to the lands of the Metkayina Clan and flying on his banshee Jake flies with the rest of his family. When Bob arrives he is not seen for the rest of the film.
