Budding Watchers (Na'vi name: asipspxam) are flora consisting of a towering fungal body that stores and accumulates nutrients. The tower grows from the ground to heights of up to twenty meters. The lower portion of the tower is hollow in the middle to encourage the accumulation of minerals and nutrients.
Beneath the tower is an extensive root network that spreads out in multiple directions, searching for other locations rich in nutrients. These roots sprout small fungi along their path to nourish the ever-extending routes.
Budding watchers favor open spaces within the Clouded Forest region of the Western Frontier. This is so they have space to not only grow their impressive primary bodies, but also so they can expand their network of roots.
Reproduction[]

The smaller body of a Budding Watcher
When a suitable location is found, the plant sprouts a new fungal bud that grows into another, much smaller plant body. These smaller bodies each grow a reserve of spores, which they tactically release when in close contact to small creatures. These creatures are then coated in spores which must be fertilized.
To do this, the primary tower of the plant waits until all of its smaller bodies have released their spores. Then it raises its fungal growths to unveil the opening to its hollow center. The creatures coated in spores are then tempted by the nutrients within to investigate.
In doing so, they transport the spores into the tower, where the budding watcher can then release its fertilizer and propagate its own growth. Through doing this, the plant is able to expand its network, increase the size of its tower, and ensure its survival.
Na'vi Culture[]
Kame'tire Na'vi have developed a mutually beneficial relationship with the Budding Watcher across generations of both species. For the Na'vi, the plant's hollow towers provide protected storage of resources and materials as it can withstand the elements and strong weather. In return, the Na'vi continually propagate the species as the opening and closing behavior of this plant is seen as both a fun and helpful activity for young Kame'tire.
In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora[]
There are ten budding watchers spread throughout the Clouded Forest.[1] Each of them rewards a unique food item that is exclusive to budding watchers, which grants the player character one of several specific stat buffs upon consumption. Several budding watchers are guarded by predators such as chameleon crawlers, echo stalkers, or feral thanators.
To complete a budding watcher, the player must follow each trail of white mushrooms that branches away from the main tower. Each trail will end at one of several smaller mushrooming bodies, which the player can touch. Once all of the smaller mushrooming bodies have been touched, the player can then return to the tower and retrieve the reward inside the hollow center.
Budding watchers can be completed as many times as the player likes, and each resets after a short time.
Completing all budding watchers at least once rewards the Mushroom Navigator trophy.
