The Chandelier Bromeliad is a plant that grows beneath floating mountains, stone arches and ceilings of coves.
Description[]
A distant evolutionary relative of the feather blade, the chandelier bromeliad is a giant, flowering plant that has adapted to grow on cave ceilings, vines and most commonly on the underside of aerial rock features.
Thriving in the shade and covered from the worst of Pandora's weather, a creeping root system firmly adheres to rock and moss-covered surfaces and sprouts numerous budding heads as it matures. Due to gravity, the bud at the lowest point of the plant receives the most nutrients from the root system, and develops into a giant, fruiting flower.
In full bloom, this flower grows up to 10 meters in diameter, opening to reveal supple inner petals, fibrous stamens and a large seed pod. Over time, the seedpod becomes densely covered in the plants extremely prickly pollen.
The plant possesses a simple nervous system which reacts to the approach of flying animals and larger insects, ejecting the seed pod in their presence. This action disperses the cloud of pollen, hopefully clinging to the skin of the passing creature, which helps wider propagation of the plant.
Skilled banshee riders test their abilities by trying to catch the falling seed, and the banshee themselves appear to revel both in the chase and in the fragrance of the pollen.
Gathering and Cooking[]
Most commonly found in the air under floating mountains throughout the Spires, however, rarer chandelier bromeliad seeds are found in the canyon to the west of Eldest Sister in the center of the Spire Falls subregion of the Spires. They are best gathered in dry weather.
Using a Chandelier Bromeliad Seed as the main cooking ingredient in combination with Rockface Mushroom is rumored to have a special effect.
When used in a Standard Dish as the primary ingredient, it grants Nimble Gatherer II, giving the player +15% Core Stats when gathering.
