He was assigned to the Lockhart Base where he supervised a unit of scientists and prospectors searching for the Pandoran mineral unobtanium. Conrad is one of the few commanders in the corporation with a doctorate in xenopathology (the study of alien diseases), and one of the few people who had an avatar body in the Avatar Program.
He is friends with Sean Wallen who works for Conrad as a head of security at Lockhart and was involved in the extermination of the Anurai clan. It is unknown if Conrad was aware of Sean's plans or if it was all Sean's idea. Conrad was worried that humans might have brought a disease to Pandora that transmits to the native fauna, but no more development was seen in that area. The disease was aptly named Earth Syndrome.
Avatar: The Game[]
Conrad views an animal killed by Earth Syndrome
Conrad is first seen in a building, viewing an animal killed by Earth Syndrome. He has given orders to his men to research more about the mysterious virus. Parker Selfridge then voice chats with Conrad, asking him for news from Lockhart, to which Conrad replies that some sites have been shown high occurrences of unobtanium.
Parker then asks Conrad if Wallen is under control to which Conrad claims he is. Despite the potential dangers to the animals, Selfridge then says the RDA will choose not to report on Earth Syndrome due to a lack of complete understanding of it.
Conrad implores Wallen to return the artifacts.
After Rai'uk destroyed several human bases, Conrad told Wallen to take back the artifacts he stole from the Anurai and hoped that this would stop the Na'vi. Wallen refuted the idea, saying nothing would change Rai'uk's intent for revenge. Conrad was unaware that Wallen was off to kill Rai'uk himself.
After Wallen and several other Conrad's men were killed by Rai'uk, Conrad began to be fueled by anger and resent the Na'vi. He linked into his avatar body and attacked the Li'ona clan's village. Conrad then confronted Rai'uk, saying the Na'vi would pay for destroying the RDA's compounds and killing his men. Although Rai'uk pleaded with Conrad to let the Li'ona be, he refused to listen. After a fierce battle, Rai'uk killed Conrad's avatar.
Strategy[]
Rai'uk aiming at Conrad during phase one.
The boss fight begins with a swarm of RDA soldiers to defeat. There is also a health plant in the middle of the field which will respawn for heals. Once they are defeated, Conrad will begin sniping Rai'uk. In this part, Rai'uk must quickly take out his bow and fire at Conrad; climbing upon a stump can get a better view at him. When Conrad moves around the upper level, he may also suddenly reappear behind Rai'uk. Another swarm will begin consisting of two AMP suits.
Circling around a stump for a QTE attempt.
After half of his health is depleted, the next stage of the fight begins. Conrad jumps down and begins fighting Rai'uk directly, throwing grenades in his direction. Confronting Conrad directly will not work. Instead, Rai'uk must try to get into Conrad's blind spot by either the alignment of the stumps and hiding in the grass. The player will then need to execute some QTEs. This process must be repeated until Conrad's avatar dies.
Trivia[]
Conrad Olson is also the name of the lead rotoscope artist for Avatar who worked as a visual effect artist, although it is unclear if this is a homage or a coincidence.
