The coronet snail (Na'vi name: txa'laktsyìp) is a small gastropod found in the Western Frontier.
Anatomy[]
The snail has a sturdy vibrant shell on its back which extends at the sides to offer extra protection against predators. It has four large eyes which gives it a full panoramic view of its surroundings. Each eye has a large pupil which is excellent at absorbing light. As a result, the snail has clear vision, even in darkness and murky fog.
Habitat[]
The snail is abundant in temperate regions with plenty of moss to feed on. It favors moving around the forest floor, where it is hidden amidst roots and weeds.
Na'vi Culture[]
Na'vi utilize discarded coronet snail shells in the creation of vibrant garnets and headpieces. It is also the traditional serving utensil for a sweet ceremonial drink created by fermenting the snail's slime over the course of several months. The Na'vi regard this tradition as a lesson in how patience can bare hidden delights from the deceptively foul.
