Duane Antony Wiremu Wichman-Evans, known better as Duane Evans Jr., is a New Zealand actor. He portrayed a free-diver of the Metkayina clan, Rotxo, in Avatar: The Way of Water.
Biography[]
Evans started acting at 3 years old. He is the fourth child of six siblings. He is of Maori, Tahitian, and mixed European descent and speaks fluent Maori. His iwi (tribe) associations are the Ngati Whaatua and Nga Puhi, with sub tribes Ngati Hine, Ngati Kahu and Te Aupouri.[1]
Role in the Avatar Universe[]
Evans was cast in 2017 as Rotxo, a free-diver of the Metkayina clan. He is part of the "next generation" cast including Jamie Flatters, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, and Jack Champion, who play Omatikaya clan youths Neteyam, Lo'ak, Tuktirey, and Miles Socorro respectively. He also stars alongside fellow Metkayina clan members Bailey Bass and Filip Geljo portraying Tsireya and Aonung respectively.
