The Metkayina atoll in the Eastern Sea
The Eastern Sea is one of the seas on Pandora. It is first seen in Avatar briefly when Jake Sully and Neytiri visit the Tayrangi clan.
The Sully family later moves across the Eastern Sea to seek uturu with the Metkayina clan. It is said the Metkayina atolls are just under 300 miles (483km) north-east to where the Omatikaya live, and it takes about 5 hours of ikran flying (excluding rest stops).[1]

The Eastern Sea separates the tropical forests from atolls with reef and countless islands, some inhabited by clans such as the Metkayina and Ta'unui, and Bridgehead, a human city that serves the colonization efforts of the RDA.
The sea coast is partly a vast plain, dotted with individual rock formations and mountains where mountain banshees probably nest. The land descends towards the sea with a high cliff, on which, in turn, mountains climb. Near the coast, numerous rock formations rise from the sea itself. The Tayrangi clan headquarters consists of huge structures, reaching about 20m in height, resembling open-sided tents. They are on two floors, so they can accommodate a large number of residents. The heart of the town is the central square.
The rest of the known coastline is covered in tropical rainforests interspersed with river deltas, which spill into natural pools reminiscent of the seawall terraces of the Metkayina clan and then flow into the sea in waterfalls.
