Edie Falco is an American actress. She portrays the antagonist Frances Ardmore in Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Biography

Falco was born in Brooklyn, New York on on July 5, 1963. She has two brothers and a sister. Her father was of Italian descent and her mother was Swedish. As a child, she acted in plays at the Arena Players Repertory Theater in East Farmingdale, where her mother also performed. She attended the acting program at the State University of New York at Purchase, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting in 1986.

She struggled with alcoholism and became sober in the early 1990s after "one particular night of debauchery". In 2003, Falco was diagnosed with breast cancer, but survived it. She adopted a son in 2005 and a daughter in 2008.

Falco is a Buddhist, as well as a vegan. She has worked with PETA, including a public-service message urging parents to keep their children away from the circus.

She has seen the first Avatar and never expected she would have a role in the series. She was a little disappointed because she was hoping she would be a Na'vi.

She was unaware when The Way of Water came out and thought that The Way of Water had released long before it did and that it simply flopped, although it became the third highest-grossing film of all time.
