The GAU 33-K Stub Wing Gun[1] is a rotary autocannon weapons system used on the Kestrel and Seawasp gunships.[2] It comes from the same family as the GAU-90.
Description[]
The GAU 33-K is a 3-barreled 30mm rotary autocannon capable of firing up to 1,750 rounds per minute, with each ammo feed running through the weapon's boom to a 1,250 round magazine inside the aircraft's fuselage.[1] The weapon's barrels remains cool to the touch despite repeated firing due to the innovative muzzle cooling system.[1]
As the name implies, the GAU 33-K is usually mounted on the wing tips of RDA aircraft, specifically on the Kestrel Gunship. However, the Seawasp has a single GAU 33-K mounted on its chin in a fully rotating turret.[1]
