The Great Austrapede (Na'vi name: Tsawltsping) is a bird-like Pandoran creature and a relative of the Austrapede.
Anatomy and Behavior[]
The great austrapede is a bipedal, flightless, bird-like creature that looks similar to a Terran ratite or the extinct phorusrhacid. It has dark grey skin with blue-grey striping on its body and yellow markings on its wings, which are flightless; it uses its wings instead for threat displays and the long-clawed fingers at the ends for hunting and battling rivals. It has a large, protruding crest on the top of its head, and two neural queues. It has two pairs of yellow-orange eyes on either side of its head.
It stands slightly taller than its genetic cousin, the austrapede, and is a far more imposing creature overall. It lives in the Pandoran savannah.
In Na'vi culture[]
The great austrapede is tamed and ridden as a mount by certain Na'vi clans that share its savannah habitat.
