As the second smallest RDA aircraft on Pandora, it is suited for personnel transport, escort and attack missions, and observation. Its small fuselage was crashworthy and provided excellent vision for the pilot.
The Hornet Scout is lightly armed as it is equipped with a chin-mounted rotary gattling gun.
When in Pandora's hostile airspace, it would operate in teams with other RDA rotorcraft such as the Scorpion Gunship, and use Vietnam War-era "hunter-killer" tactics to flush out and eliminate hostile air or ground targets. The Hornet Scout would act as bait to draw the enemy's attention and mark targets for the Scorpion Gunships to attack. The "hunter-killer" teams would also rely on firepower from armed Samson transports.
