Jake's city is an unnamed city on Earth where Jake Sully lived in 2148 before he moved to Pandora.
Description[]
The city residents are also shown to wear masks to combat air pollution. Overpopulation is a major issue and the cityfolk are effectively forced to be shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone else. No plant life, trees, or grass is shown to exist in the city.
Despite the energy crisis and the cost of electricity, the city is shown to be full of colorful holograms with advertisements covering the sky, as seen when Jake looks up at the sky in the alleyway. However, people are shown to walk on the streets or ride bikes due to an apparent lack of electric cars. They also seem to lack air purifiers as well. This suggests the dangerous influence that corporations have and how they are prioritized over the general welfare of the people. A system of aerial maglev trains is also seen above, possibly powered by unobtanium.
The city is also described as being in North Carolina in the non-canon Project 880: "His particular part of this undifferentiated concrete rat-warren is Charlotte, NC, but you could be anywhere. It's the same crowded, gray, trash-strewn high-tech squalor. The walls are gray, the sky is gray... the people are gray. They shuffle past each other in dense crowds, shoulder to shoulder, unwashed because of the water shortages, and sickly looking from the bankrupt diet of cheap carbohydrates and synthetic proteins. It looks like a cross between THX-1138 and a Calcutta train station."
Locations[]
