Made by Griffin Defense Systems, the KM-722 Dual Chin Gun combines two 20mm autocannons with an individual rate of fire of 750–1,000 rounds per minute into a single unit. Although it is less effective than the GAU 33-K Stub Wing Gun, the KM-722 is lighter, smaller, and much easier to maintain.[1]
The KM-722 is a primary weapons system on the AT-99 Scorpion and SA-9 Kestrel gunships, with two KM-722s mounted on the front of the aircraft. On the Scorpion, the guns are mounted to the forward stub wings, while the Kestrel's are mounted directly on the nose. The KM-722 was also used on other vehicles as well due to its simplicity and ease of maintenance.[1]
