Kataru is a Na'vi of the Sarentu clan in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. She was the mother of the protagonist and Aha'ri.
Biography[]
At the Circle of Songs, in 2138, she was killed by the Resources Development Administration, specifically led by John Mercer, Angela Harding and Alma Cortez, when they were abducting Na'vi kids, including her two children for The Ambassador Program. Alma Cortez believed she and the RDA could enlighten the Na'vi by teaching them the ways of humans.
However, the clan refused to simply give up their children. SecOps solders killed the clan and Kataru in response. She is said to have died while trying to shield her children.
After her death, the RDA destroyed her corpse, along with the bodies of the rest of the clan, using corrosive acid to hide the evidence. The rest of the Na'vi believed the Sarentu mysteriously disappeared.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora[]
In the game, she is seen singing The People’s Cry to the protagonist when they were just a child.
Personality and Traits[]
Kataru cared for the clan's smallest children during clan hunts and gatherings. She was skilled at dancing and loved a bit of gossip. She doted on her children and valued teaching them skills for self-sufficiency. She strongly believed in the clan's ancient traditions of traveling, entertaining and sharing stories across the Western Frontier. As such, she taught the smallest children stories, songs, and the histories of their clans so they would grow up to be adventurous, loving and brave.
