How'd you think we'd be digging out here -- with our hands? This is all by the book. If anyone's changing the deal at the last minute, it's you.

Jake Katherine

Jake orders Katherine to be conservative with her group's mining efforts

Katherine Hale was permitted to stay on Pandora after the Na'vi drove away the RDA. 2 weeks after the battle, Hale is trying to keep Hell's Gate running by trying to establish a new mine, closer to Hell's Gate, which would be more manageable for the few people that were left behind. She had negotiated with Ka'ani for this place, but when the bulldozers attempt to clear a path for the mine, Ka'ani changes his mind and tries to prevent them from mining. Jake Sully arrives and asks Hale to find other solutions, suggesting she strip down the RDA's old mining equipment for materials. Hale agrees but also notes that it's only a temporary solution.[1]

Later, Norm Spellman travels with Hale to a defunct mine that Na'vi youth had destroyed. Norm is surprised but Hale dismisses it as the young Na'vi needing to express their anger. He's then shocked when Hale lets her men fire their guns at the old equipment as stress relief. She encourages him to try it, but he refuses, and Hale joins in shooting at the vehicles.[2]

After Jake is poisoned by Artsut, one of Hale's men suggests they use the distraction as an opportunity to set up the new mine, but Hale refuses. Norm radios for her and asks her to bring her squad and Max Patel to the Tree of Souls. After arriving, Mo'at asks Katherine and her men to retrieve a special flower that can be turned into an antidote for the comatose Jake. The flower only grew in a cave with an entrance too small for a Na'vi to enter, and it was too dangerous to send a Na'vi child into, hence why it could only be a human who could get it. Despite Ka'ani's warnings not to go through with the plan, Hale and her men do so and bring the flower to Mo'at. She crafts it into an antidote and gives it to Jake, curing him of the poison.

Avatar: Pandora Rising[]

Hale also appeared in the now-defunct mobile game, Avatar: Pandora Rising. She was the NPC that offered quests and mentored players on the RDA side.
