Lopez was one of a dozen resurrected SecOps soldiers as part of Project Phoenix. He was a recombinant member of the first recom squad under the command of Recom Quaritch.

Biography

Lopez was once a human SecOps operative serving under Colonel Miles Quaritch in 2154. At some point during the Assault on the Tree of Souls he was killed in action. Two hours prior to his death, Lopez had his memories uploaded onto a Soul Drive, which was then sent back to Earth during the expulsion of the Resources Development Administration from Pandora. This copied consciousness was then downloaded into Lopez's recombinant in 2170 aboard the ISV Vindicator.

Avatar: The Way of Water

Lopez killed by an arrow while riding his banshee.

Like the other members of the team, Lopez had been brought back to life as a Recombinant after the death of his human body during the first war with the Na'vi. He was killed once again in the Skirmish at the Three Brothers when Neytiri shot him down from his banshee, hitting him in the chest with one of her arrows sending his body down into the sea. Lopez is the seventh Recom to die.

Trivia

• According to actor Johnny Alexander, there is a mix-up in Avatar: The Way of Water: The Visual Dictionary that incorrectly misidentifies the names of Lopez, Brown and Ja.
• Lopez has many dark tattoos on his arms, neck and his chest. His torso reads "SEPULTURERO" which means "gravedigger" in Spanish. He even has his military suit decorated with a small pirate flag symbol of the pirate captain Calico Jack on its chest.
