The Luna Tetrapteron is a creature appearing in Avatar: Reckoning. It is a subspecies of the Tetrapteron.
It has two pairs of wings that can move independently, two long tails that can be used to maintain balance, and strong keel protrusions for easy flight muscle attachment. The Luna Tetrapteron's two pairs of forelimbs have evolved into wings. Each of its wings is controlled by separate muscles, thus accommodating a variety of flight needs. This flexible flight pattern is especially important in the wooded Wetlands and rainforests. They have keen vision and can hunt for insects and small fish from the branches of the Wetlands or pools of water.
Some fishermen of the Hulanta clan have developed a strange symbiotic relationship with them. The Luna Tetrapterons will help them catch larger-sized fish in exchange for the fisherman feeding them smaller fish that are easier to eat. In the face of threats, they will use their sharp beaks and claws to attack their enemies, and at a distance, they will dart at their targets.
