What I desire is an Olo'eyktan who is strong and wise. And a Tsahìk who is his match. Do you really think that is you?Maru criticizing Saeyla's attraction to Tsu'tey.

Jake Sully captured by Maru
As a Hunter with an advanced level of training, Maru acts as an advisory voice to Tsu'tey regarding the training of the young apprentices Saeyla and Ka'ani, along with Takuk and Atan. She and the other students helped Tsu'tey capture Jake Sully.
When Tsu'tey decided to retain Iknimaya for the young apprentices, Maru behaved relatively quietly, and only when those present began to resent the leader's line of behavior did he notice that he is wise, which means that he must understand what is making.

Maru talks to Saeyla about their future's different outcomes.
When the RDA bulldozers destroyed the Tree of Voices and Tsu'tey ordered them to prepare for the attack, Maru has a serious talk with Saeyla, seeing that she has fallen in love with Tsu'tey. Although Saeyla is outraged, Maru explains that in order to mate with a warrior, she would have to become a Tsahìk (which would involve numerous sacrifices and undergo long training) or simply be a lover. It also points to the essence of being a warrior, primarily the fact that one must be willing to sacrifice oneself for one's people.
Maru also survived the destruction of the Hometree, and along with Takuk, was sent by Tsu'tey to find Mo'at. During the Battle for the Tree of Souls, Maru and Takuk lead Saeyla and Ka'ani's group. However, seeing that Tsu'tey is in mortal danger, they break with his authority. Later, the entire group finds the dying chief in the forest.

APR unused Maru art
- An image of Maru can be found in unused files of the game Avatar: Pandora Rising. Apparently, the developers planned to introduce her as commander, but due to the premature closure of the project, they did not have time to do so.
