The MBS platforms offer high cyclic rates and excellent volumes of fire comparable to Gatling-type actions while offering reduced size and weight and extensive flexibility in mounting and integration into existing armament systems.
SecOps notably used the .50 caliber (12.7 mm) MBS-9 platform in the form of the MBS-9M Hydra as a manned, flexible mounted weapon on vehicles and the 20mm MBS-22 platform in the MBS-22A Automated Sentry Gun, which was a component of Hell's Gate's perimeter defenses. Scorpion Gunships and Dragon Assault Ships in Pandoran service can be seen to mount what are possibly MBS weapon systems, but their identity is unconfirmed.
Another Masa-Cirre product seen in use was the WASP revolver, which was a preferred sidearm of SecOps personnel. This weapon was never issued by RDA, but was often purchased by higher-ranking personnel as an alternative to the RDA-issue Hirte & Fahl automatic pistol (whose 8mm cartridge was notoriously inadequate for defense against Pandoran predators). Miles Quaritch notably carried and used a WASP.
Behind the Scenes
The company's name "Masa-Cirre" is intended to sound like and metaphorically represent the English word "massacre".
