Mayes Rubeo was born in Mexico City and lives in Los Angeles. She has become one of the big names in costume design. She won the costume designers guild award in 2009 for the film Avatar. Rubeo was also costume designer on John Carter, Dragonball: Evolution, Apocalypto, Sunshine State and The Arrival, among other feature films. Her television credits include the film Fidel, for which Rubeo was nominated for a Costume Designers Guild Award, and The Librarian: Quest for the Spear. She has been working in film costumes since the mid 80s, and her most recent work is World War Z.
