Mireya is a Na'vi medicine woman and member of the Tawkami clan.
Biography[]
Avatar: Adapt or Die[]
Mireya helps Mo'at and Grace Augustine find a treatment for a mysterious illness afflicting the Omatikaya clan and avatars. Mo'at brings the unconscious Grace to the clan, which Mireya is uncomfortable with, but she eventually agrees to help. She analyzes Grace's avatar and discovers blotches of pale pigment on her body. Mireya then blows some syekalin pollen onto the blotches and they get bigger. She orders Rawm to bring a sledge and pa'li and she and Mo'at bring Grace's avatar to a field of syekalin. Although Mo'at is concerned, Mireya believes that the syekalin could lead them to a cure for the illness.
After leaving the avatar in the syekalin for a while, its condition improves. Mo'at asks how Mireya accomplished this, and Mireya explains that the ill people must've been exposed to something similar to the flower, and that the pollen is drawing it out of the body. However, Mireya is confused why Grace isn't waking up despite getting better, and Mo'at explains the avatar does not have its animating force and cannot wake while Grace's spirit is elsewhere. Lunapey joins them and inquires about the possibility of Grace's avatar waking up and walking around without Grace to control it; Mo'at confirms this is not possible. Mireya, further disconcerted by the avatars, suggests that Mo'at should return home with the avatar.
Mo'at agrees and Mireya and Lunapey help her secure Grace's avatar to their direhorse. Mireya bids Mo'at farewell, asking that she never bring another dreamwalker to the Tawkami clan.
Personality and Traits[]
Mireya is a wise and confident Na'vi. As with many of her clan, she is quite analytical, able to quickly deduce the ailment Grace's avatar was suffering from and devise a treatment plan. Although Mireya is very unnerved by the concept of "dreamwalkers", believing them to be unnatural, she assists Mo'at and Grace in finding a treatment for the mysterious illness.
Abilities[]
Mireya is a skilled botanist who is sought out by Mo'at for help with the illness affecting the Omaticaya clan. With her knowledge of plants, she quickly refuted Mo'at's initial idea that the syekalin was causing the illness and even deduced that the syekalin could be used as a treatment for it.
