Shame cuts deeply. Hollows you out. I know you feel this. But your song continues, mine ends here. I will not see my clan renewed. My shame alone... follows me to Eywa.Mokasa's dying words to Alma Cortez
Mokasa was a Na'vi who was part of the Kame'tire clan in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. He was Anufi's chief advisor, being the guardian of the information flow and a concealer of dark secrets. While not stated to be an Olo'eyktan, Mokasa was effectively in control of the Kame'tire because Anufi depended on his advice. The clan was naturally reclusive but under his leadership, there was a deep mistrust of outsiders. Mokasa used inflated language to elevate his authority but does not raise his voice often. Upon his betrayal being uncovered, he was exiled from the clan.
After wandering in exile, he discovered no clan would harbor him and became embittered by this revelation. He redeemed himself, however, by helping the Resistance repel the RDA from the Western Frontier once more before sacrificing himself.
History[]
Background[]
Mokasa was a member of the Kame'tire clan and an ally of Alma Cortez when the RDA were first on Pandora. When John Mercer targeted his clan and aimed to take their children away for TAP, Mokasa revealed to him the location of the Sarentu clan during their annual moot. This was done in order to dissuade Mercer from taking the children of the Kame'tire clan. However, Mokasa did not know that the machinations of Mercer would result in the massacre of the Sarentu. Upon his betrayal of the Sarentu to save his own clan, Mokasa chose to hide his misdeed rather than take responsibility for it. And so, he convinced Anufi she was to blame and falsely accused her remedies, which she gave to the Sarentu, of being lethally toxic. This put shame on her and the entire Kame'tire clan for decades, while Mokasa could not connect to Eywa in fear it would reveal his heavy secret.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora[]
Around 30 years later, an investigation by one of Sarentu's surviving children confirmed that Mercer was responsible for the Sarentu clan's extermination, not Anufi's medicine; the protagonist found closed jars with suspected poison along with traces that indicated the presence of Sec-Ops soldiers.
The Sarentu quickly went to the Sinks to inform Anufi of the discovery, who was trying to get the truth out of Eywa. After Anufi discovers Mokasa's role in the incident by forcing their queues to connect to access his memories, he becomes exiled and is forbidden to connect to Eywa ever again. Mokasa's position was taken by Okul.
The Sky Breaker[]
Mokasa arrives at the Great Games where he reveals no clan would accept him, and he is desperate for a place to rest. This causes controversy, with Sa'ney wanting him gone, but Anufi is more compassionate and says the matter of Mokasa's stay should be dealt with after the Games.

After the RDA's ambush, Mokasa's guilt causes him to volunteer to go on the rescue mission to save Anufi and Alma from the RDA. After Anufi is rescued, Mokasa defeats a couple RDA soldiers, but they manage to shoot his torso. Anufi is horrified that Mokasa is dying. After they escape, Anufi decides to preserve his memories with Eywa at the Bloom of Echoes before he dies, saying his story should not be forgotten, and the best version of himself should be his legacy. On his deathbed, he also empathized with Alma that he knows what it's like to feel deep hurtful shame.
