Nathan Williams was an RDA botanist who arrived in the Western Frontier with the RDA's second invasion of Pandora.
Biography[]
He left behind a son, Harry, on Earth, in the care of his grandparents. Nathan was separated from Harry's mother, who had no interest in Harry. A combination of debt and lack of opportunity had left them on edge of poverty. The decision to go was a heartbreakingly difficult one as his son would have grown to adulthood by the time he returned, but he saw it as the only way to provide for him: a chance to make enough money to move them both somewhere they could have a better standard of life.
After he got to Pandora, Nathan travelled around extensively, shuttling between RDA scientific stations and compounds, studying the flora. As a way of dealing with his sadness over leaving Harry behind, he began to sketch out a comic. Harry had always loved comics. Whenever he finished a page, he left it where it lay. He wouldn't really say why. Perhaps the comic was not for Harry, it was for Nathan: his way of articulating his feelings, of connecting over the impossible distance between them.
Eventually, Nathan became disillusioned with the RDA and made the difficult decision to defect to the Resistance, knowing he'd never be able to return home to Earth and be reunited with this son. He hoped Harry would understand why he didn't come back. He hoped he'd think of him as a good man, not a coward who stood by and watched injustice happen. He hoped he'd be an example to to his son. Currently, nobody knows what happened to Nathan Williams.
