A NeuroSect is a scanning device that can read minds.

Description[]

It is unclear when and who invented it, but it may use technology similar to the Dark Dreamer Project and Link Units.

It is supposed to be a medical device first and foremost, but its analysis of brain activity can extract intel from people. It is comprised of a very delicate rotary imaging array, a restraining chair and a lot of processing power. Using radiation, it uses invasive mapping of one's prefrontal cortex that a human being uses to process visuals. Words can be said in order to extract intel from a given subject.[1]

It seems that the device can not access subconscious memories, however. Given its capabilities, there is a great chance that the NeuroSect can show live video of people's dreams as they sleep.

Using it for prolonged periods of time effectively can turn it into a torture device as it causes brain damage due to extreme radiation, and can even kill the victim. Subjects most likely feel intense heat as if they are being cooked alive.

Appearances[]

Spider nosebleed

Spider suffers a nosebleed from the RDA's torture due to his loyalty to the Na'vi.

It was used against Miles Socorro by Frances Ardmore in Avatar: The Way of Water. He resisted it after he was captured and tortured by the RDA, but ended up getting a nosebleed from the machine in return.

It was also used against Alma Cortez by Angela Harding in The Sky Breakers DLC of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. She was unable to resist the torture, and Harding obtained a copy of Alma's brain containing the information Harding wanted.
