The Omatikaya Hometree was the home of the Omatikaya people. This Hometree is said to be over 20,000 years old. It was destroyed by the Resources Development Administration during the Destruction of the Hometree.
History[]
Avatar[]
The Omatikaya Hometree was the ancestral home of the Omatikaya clan. It was over 20,000 years old and was over 985ft (300m) tall.[1] It was located in Sector 12, above a rich deposit of unobtanium, possibly one of the richest on the moon, putting the Na'vi in conflict with the RDA's interests due to the value of the mineral. In Avatar, the RDA encouraged Jake Sully to find a way to get the Omatikaya clan to evacuate their Hometree. However, the clan stood their ground and refused to leave their ancestral home. Bulldozing the tree would also be problematic because the clan's tradition is to bury their ancestors underneath. Colonel Quaritch and the RDA found out the clan refused to relocate through one of Jake's video logs.

The RDA topples the Omatikaya Hometree.
On August 20, 2154, the Hometree was obliterated by the RDA's security forces using high explosive missiles, after driving the Na'vi out with tear gas, forcing the remaining inhabitants to relocate. Quaritch referred to it as "one big damn tree" before destroying it with gas containers and missiles. During the attack and collapse of the tree, many of the Omatikaya were killed by being crushed under it. The clan leader, Eytukan, died as well when a piece of bark pierced his torso.

Avatar: The Next Shadow[]
The Hometree was so massive that it was still burning two weeks after the war.[2]
Avatar: Adapt or Die[]
In 2142, the Omatikaya clan fell ill. The sick were laid outside at the base of Hometree. Mo'at and Grace Augustine worked together to search for a cure to save the clan. Grace (both human and Na'vi form) visited the Hometree to lend aid.
Avatar: The High Ground[]
The Omatikaya attempted to claim a new Hometree for themselves 14 years later, but Jake convinced them not to as it would allow the RDA to easily locate the clan if they ever returned.
