Omatikaya Village is a temporary Na'vi village inhabited by the Omatikaya clan around 2154-2169. It was built in the tropical forest near Hell's Gate, inhabited by the humans allied to the Na'vi since they banished the RDA from Pandora.

As a place of temporary residence, the village did not have a uniform and closed structure. Shops, maruis, and canopies stretched just outside the Hell's Gate fence; some Na'vi have also adapted the Avatar Compound as an enclosed place suited to the residence and activity of individuals of their size and stature. The location of the village was not chosen by chance, because Jake Sully wanted the Na'vi and humans to start living together symbolically, to rebuild what had been destroyed during the war.

Much of the town stretched deep into the forest, where the Omatikaya began to live as a clan without the closed, clustered home of Hometree, that is, in a more dispersed manner. The Na'vi live in maruis spread out among the trees, presumably separated for each family.

History[]

On August 20, 2154, RDA forces led by Quaritch destroyed the Omatikaya clan's Hometree. The desperate clan went to the Tree of Souls, the closest and safest place for them, and also sacred, which helped the Na'vi to ease their pain and sense of hopelessness.

Wanting revenge as well as driving off the invaders from Pandora, Jake as Toruk Makto united the Omatikaya and other clans to confront the RDA forces. On August 23, at dawn, the Battle for the Tree of Souls broke out, which the RDA attempted to destroy in order to isolate the Na'vi from Eywa and thus strip them of their identity. The united forces of the Na'vi managed to repel the attack and save the tree, and Jake, as a newly named Olo'eyktan by Tsu'tey, personally arranged for the invaders to board a Valkyrie shuttle and return to Earth.

Although the Tree of Souls was saved, the Omatikaya were still looking for a new home, if only temporarily, for the small rock niche within which the tree grows was no longer suitable for such a purpose. Shortly after the humans left, the clan began organizing a new village just outside Hell's Gate, now inhabited by the few RDA personnel whom Jake trusted and allowed to remain on Pandora. For the first time in history, the Na'vi began to share their daily lives with humans who helped them, including medically. Several among them Norm Spellman and the children born in Pandora were admitted to the Omatikaya, participating in joint celebrations and parties.

Around 2168/2169, as a result of the ritual prayers of the Omatikaya elders led by Mo'at, the clan chose and became spiritually connected to a Hometree, which thus became their new home. However, Jake as Olo'eyktan forbade the move to him, fearing the return of the RDA and a repeat of traumatic history for the clan. As the spaceships began to approach the Pandora, Jake evacuated the entire Omatikaya to the newly established Hallelujah Mountain High Camp, where the clan stayed for at least a year.
