Sec-Ops sees the avatar as a convenient tool similar to their mobile armor. But I believe that the avatar should also have emotions. It's somewhat the same but also different.

Raven's Father was the unnamed father of Raven. He was one of the original 20 avatar drivers.
They also made friends with the Na'viHulanta clan.[1] During one night, he kept saying his child's name over and over in his sleep. When his wife asked him what he dreamed about, he replied nothing, and she thought to herself that he was a bad liar. They also met Houtun, exchanging many stories with him, became welcomed by their conservative clan, even learning how to paraglide. Finally, they met Zureyn of the Anurai clan and hid a relic for him, but the clan mistakenly believed Raven's parents were thieves until Raven found the truth many years later.
In 2154, just before the Battle of Ayram Alusìng broke out, during one of their return trips, their Samson squad was attacked by banshees. Reid ordered Raven's father to shoot the banshees while his wife just wanted to scare them away. The banshees were too aggressive though, and he was forced to kill them. They were eventually attacked by Great Leonopteryx and theirs was the last Samson to survive, but was no longer flight-worthy. It went down and crashed in the jungle.[1]
Years later Edmund Langford asked his child to investigate the disappearance of him and his wife.[1] Raven also found a message in their father's watch.

In the script, it is mentioned whenever Raven was afraid of lightning as a child, Raven's father would let Raven play with a capsule containing a liquid to calm them down. Ro'até tells Raven she remembers the capsule as well, and Raven finds it amusing their parents brought it with them to Pandora.
According to the Avatar: Reckoning script, it is implied someone secretly killed Raven's parents by making their Samson go on auto-pilot to a dangerous region using some wireless override code. Trinity Harper denies being responsible, but the truth is uncertain.
Both of Raven's parents are presumed deceased by Raven.
For unknown reasons, Raven's parents seem to share the same dialogue lines. One possibility is that if the player had a male Raven, Raven's father would appear in the story, and a female Raven would have Raven's mother appear. Another possibility is the writers changed the role of the parents during development, since Raven's father seems to have more presence in later builds.
