The Red Crested Climber is a creature appearing in Avatar: Reckoning.
It is a subspecies of the dodiapede, with a similar body structure but of a smaller size, and can be considered the dodiapede's Highland cousins.
It is a ridable mount for the Na'vi.[1]
Anatomy[]
It has bright-green hairless skin, unfurling red dermis on head, and sharp claws covered with cuticles. To adapt to the water-scarce environment of the Highlands, their heads, tails, and forelimbs are covered with hard, spiny scales to prevent water evaporation. Another difference is that they have only one pair of balanced wings, but two pairs of hind legs, because Highland life requires more speed and endurance than frequent hurdling over obstacles as in Wetlands.
Behavior[]
It is an omnivorous animal that feeds on plant roots, fruits, small animals and insects.
It prefers to live in groups and generally nest on the ground. However, at times of emergency, it can climb trees or vines to escape.
They will go around collecting shiny or hidden items to decorate their nests, so if a mining site worker loses something, it is often blamed directly on a Red Crested Climber.
Trivia[]
- They are also seen having the name crimsysoraus in an earlier build.
