After the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, Jake Sully allowed certain humans to remain on Pandora. When the RDA returned, some of these humans left Hell's Gate to establish an active resistance in the Western Frontier, with Resistance HQ as their new home. It has since been expanded to accommodate new defectors from the RDA.
In 2169, a strike by RDA forces led by John Mercer destroyed the base and killed several Resistance members, including Hajir Beshara and Daniela Neves-MacKay. The survivors relocated to a new base called the Resistance Hideout built within a cave in Giant's Bane within Stone Cloud Valley of the Clouded Forest.
