Saeyla is an Omaticaya clan hunter trainee under Tsu'tey. She teamed up with Ka'ani during nighttime survival training. She has a crush on Tsu'tey despite knowing about his betrothal to Neytiri, offering him fruit. She has a tendency not to recognize dangerous Pandoran fruits. Ka'ani saved her from touching an orb-shaped one that was hot enough to burn the ground it fell on and she reassured Tsu'tey that the fruit she offered "wasn't poison this time". She and the other students helped Tsu'tey capture Jake Sully.
She was able to bond with a direhorse, despite initial skittishness about the creature licking her. Although some of the senior hunter trainees disagreed, Tsu'tey allowed Saeyla and Ka'ani to undertake the rite of passage to bond and ride with an ikran. She successfully completed the rite of passage alongside Ka'ani and Jake.
She and Tsu'tey disagreed on Eytukan's judgement on allowing Jake in the clan; while she believed that Tsu'tey's judgement is better due to his youth and strength, Tsu'tey heavily discouraged her from thinking that way due to Eytukan's character.
