The Science Operations Rover or SciOps Rover[2] is a large all-terrain rover used largely by the Science Operations team for scientific collection, surveying and testing on the various features of Pandora.
Specifications/Overview[]
They are large and very tall rovers that run on a unique four-legged six-wheel drive system, offering superb off-road handling on almost all types of terrain[2]. As SciOps personnel often venture into uncharted territories, having a extremely traversable vehicle gives the best option for their jobs. Whilst tall and ungainly looking, the driver's cockpit is gyrostabilised, allowing for a smooth ride despite driving on sharp turns or uneven ground[2].
The cockpit is only big enough to house two personnel, a driver and a passenger. The vehicle possess a miniature walkway with guardrails on the side and rear of the rover[2]. The purpose for the walkway is to give either personnel a good view, which is supported by the rover's height. This isn't always recommended, however, due to the dangers of Pandora. Rather, an alternative is the rover's selection of advance surveying equipment, camera feed systems and sensors mounted on a rotational turret on top the rover; offering a full 360 degree view on the environment[1].
As they are a largely, civilian vehicle, they are not armoured and are vulnerable from the various threats on Pandora[2].
