Scott Lawrence (born September 27, 1963) is an American stage and film actor, who played the role of the crew Venture Star Crew Chief.
Biography[]
Scott Lawrence was born in Los Angeles and spent most of his childhood on picket lines with his civil rights parents. His parents were social activists, his father Gilbert Lawrence was executive director of the University of Southern California, and his mother Gloria worked for an organization dedicated to improving the economic conditions of black communities.
Lawrence studied electrical engineering at the university where his father worked, but later became interested in theater, which determined his future destiny. Prior to appearing in 76 episodes of JAG: Naval Justice, Lawrence was active in Hollywood television shows and movies. In the late 1980s, he landed a supporting role on the popular American sitcom Murphy Brown and in the early 1990s, he landed a leading role on the short-lived Bagdad Cafe series starring Whoopi Goldberg.
Career[]
His first film appearance was The First Power with Lou Diamond Phillips and Mykelti Williamson, then he appeared in Doppelganger with Drew Barrymore, Dennis Christopher and Sally Kellerman. Lawrence has appeared in a dozen other films, the most famous of which is Avatar, and has also voiced Darth Vader in most of the games based on the George Lucas Star Wars saga. Lawrence is the father of two sons: Daniel (who also became an actor) and Morgan.
