Stone Arches (Na'vi name: "Malmok" or "Ayrang") formed when Pandora cooled from molten state. Loops of intense magnetic fields, which were created by unobtanium, shaped the melted rock. The rock then hardened to create the formations. Surrounding rock has eroded over the millennia to reveal the arches. The largest are three hundred meters in height, five hundred meters wide. They are composed of rock with a high concentration of iron ore.
They are one of Pandora's signature landforms. RDA mining engineers use the arches to help locate unobtanium deposits. They also serve to warn pilots of the nexus of intense magnetic fields that can confound their navigation systems and alter operation of their aircraft.
They also cover the basin of the Tree of Souls.
