Syekalin

Syekalin (Sweet breath flower) is a flower native to Pandora.

Characteristics[]

The syekalin has purple-blue petals and green leaves and looks similar to a Terran succulent or cactus bloom. It is large enough to fit in the palm of a grown Na'vi.

The syekalin has sweet-smelling pollen that can cause illness in Na'vi children if inhaled. Young children often fall sick to the flower during its bloom season as they relish in its pleasant smell, not realizing it is dangerous. Thankfully, there is a cure for the pollen that can quickly remedy the sickness.^[1]

History[]

When the children of the Omatikaya clan fall ill after visiting Hell's Gate, their symptoms were similar to the effects of the syekalin. However, the flower was not in bloom at that time, and the traditional cure for the sickness had little effect on them. Mireya later deduced that the syekalin was not causing the illness, but that its pollen could be used as a treatment by drawing out the toxin that was responsible.
