Tal'an is a stargazer/astrologer of the Anurai Clan.
He and Ahulang are best friends. He has a hobby of collecting meteorites, as he watches for falling stars. As an astrologer, his role is useful to the clan as it can tell them when the best time to hold ceremonies is.
At some point, Raven's parents met the clan and told told Tal'an many things about the stars and life in outer space, and showed photographs of what Eywa looks like from above.
Unfortunately, Tal'an wrongly believed Raven's parents were the ones who stole the clan's sacred relic. In actuality, they hid it to protect it.
