Were these mountains inspired from another movie/book or was it completely original?

there were some similar land masses in Digimon and final fantasy 3. im sure that there are more places that it happens but, it would take some searching.Txantslusam 'Atan 23:43, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

Na'vi name[]

I think that the Na'vi don't actually have a name for these mountains other then 'Thundering Rocks'. 'Iknimaya' is the name of the rite of passage young Na'vi must take where they go to the banshee resting, sleeping place to capture and successfully bond with a Banshee. Jake himself undergoes this at one point in the movie. --IWantheUltimateChange 06:50, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

meissner effect[]

If the mountians are floating from the meissner effect, does that mean if you fall off you float there instead of falling to your doom?

and where do you think the forces are coming from?Txantslusam 'Atan 23:43, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

Magnetism[]

Would it be worth mentioning that the magnetic fields which supposedly support these mountains would technically be strong enough to rip the hemoglobin out of your blood? --Fireman V2 21:40, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

No. --IWantheUltimateChange 06:18, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

Why don't the humans take them?[]

So why don't the humans take these huge chunks of unobtanium instead of mining it from the ground? Just seems like the low-hanging fruit of the mining process. Sure RADAR doesn't work but LIDAR could easily be used instead, and clearly the aircraft are otherwise unaffected by it. You'd think you could secure some steel cables to a big one, attach it to a special "tugboat" style craft, and then haul it to the refinery. Or if the rocks only float in that area, haul it to where ever it falls to the ground and then break it up on the ground to transport it the rest of the way. --Steven hunter 20:19, March 26, 2011 (UTC)
