The Tarsyu is a giant flowering plant indigenous to the Western Frontier of Pandora. Its stamens enable Na'vi of the Sarentu clan to commune with the memories of ancestors within Eywa via their neural link.[1]

Each adult plant is formed of a tendrilous root base that supports a single flowering head. At rest, this flower head resembles a giant leaf-covered pod in which the cup-shaped flower of the Tarsyu is tightly enclosed and protected by thick, lanceolate leaves.

In the presence of the Sarentu, the pod opens, revealing the vast and brightly colored flower within. Branches, petals, and sepals spay outward and the soft, neuro-connecting stamens are accessible. Immature Tarsyu saplings are smaller, and similarly formed. They too open in the presence of Sarentu but have only developed a single neuro connecting stamens in the flower center.

The Tarsyu’s lifecycle appears to be directly linked to Sarentu activity.

Several adult and sapling tarsyu have been discovered across the Western Frontier. The plant thrives in highly varied growing conditions, in a variety of soils, weathers and in light or shade. Although each documented example is different, all growing locations shares a calm, serene aura, away from common animal routes and often hard to access.

The Sarentu clan's historically nomadic culture, and lack of their own fixed settlement, means that they have traced routes between many clan settlements for hundreds of years, and it is on these routes the tarsyu grow. The exact means of this propagation has not been discovered.

The Tarsyu features in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. It provides the game's skill tree (or plant, so to speak), where the player can upgrade their abilities. The abilities appear to be based on different branches (e.g. "Memories of the Warrior"). Buffs provided by the skill tree include agility, stealth, and weapon/mount handling.
