Biography[]

Kataru showing her songcord to her child.
The protagonist had a mother named Kataru and an older sister, Aha'ri.
When they were young, their clan was attacked by RDA forces, led by John Mercer and Angela Harding. They, along with their sister Aha'ri and other Na'vi children, were kidnapped by the RDA and forced to participate in the Ambassador Program. They were raised as if they were human, and groomed to turn against their own species. During their life in the TAP facility, the protagonist kept a memory of their former home and the songcord that belonged to their mother. John Mercer allowed them to have it in their bedroom but forbade them to wear it during classes.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora[]
The Ambassador Program[]
In 2146, during one of Alma Cortez's lessons, the protagonist interrupted the class and played with their mother's songcord, while their sister, Aha'ri, hummed a Sarentu song. Suddenly, Mercer came to visit, and became enraged upon seeing the songcord and tried to take it, but Aha'ri stopped him. An argument broke out between Mercer and the children as Mercer wanted to kill any sense of the children's former identities.

John Mercer kills Aha'ri.
Shortly after, one night, the protagonist, Aha'ri, Nor, Teylan and Ri'nela sang the Sarentu song and decided to try to escape the facility, but they were stopped by Mercer and his soldiers. Aha'ri confronted Mercer again, declaring her allegiance to her Na'vi identity, enraging him. As Aha'ri walked toward the door, Mercer shot and fatally wounded her. The Sarentu children were shocked by her death, and the protagonist wailed and mourned for their sister.
Cryostasis and Rescue[]
Eight years later, in 2154, during a lesson with Alma, Mercer burst into class and announced that due to the mobilization of Na'vi troops led by Jake Sully, Hell's Gate had ordered the evacuation of the RDA from Pandora. Convinced that he could not trust the group of TAP children, he ordered their execution. However, Alma killed the soldiers and helped the children escape. She took them to a laboratory with cryosleep chambers where she put them into cryostasis.
Sixteen years later, Alma and the Resistance received a signal from the TAP facility, confirming that the children were still alive in their cryostasis chambers. She, along with So'lek and other Resistance members, awakened the children, with the protagonist being the last to wake up. Shortly after, having also received the signal from TAP, Mercer targets and destroys the TAP facility. With the help of So'lek, the Sarentu manages to leave the building, where they encounter the pristine Pandoran forest for the first time.

The Sarentu escaping sixteen years later.
After escaping from TAP headquarters, the protagonist was ordered to find the Resistance HQ, located nearby. There, they calmly talk to their savior Alma, as well as Teylan and the people united to defend Pandora against the expansion of the RDA. Then, under the leadership of Teylan, they meet people belonging to the Resistance, who provide them with the necessary clothing and tools. Then, they reunite with their friends. Some time later, they join the other Sarentu children who have found the Sarentu Grounds and the Tarsyu plant that grows there, thanks to which they can connect with Eywa for the first time in their lives. During this profound spiritual experience, the Sarentu appears before the spirit of Entu, the legendary storyteller and founder of the Sarentu Clan. Entu tells the protagonist that he is their ancestor and tells them about their lost heritage.
Aranahe Clan[]

The Sarentu meeting the Aranahe clan.
After the battle near Resistance Research Station, the protagonist meets a Na'vi woman named Etuwa, who helps carry the wounded from the battlefield. She recognizes them as a member of the Sarentu clan due to the mark on their cheek and refers to them by that name, then invites them to the Aranahe clan. The Sarentu continues in the direction indicated through the forest and reaches the clan, but upon arriving is stopped by Ka'nat, the Olo'eyktan, as well as Neyan and Aleymun. Ka'nat balks at the protagonist, claiming that they have too many marks of the Sky People. After a while, Nefika arrives and convinces the leader to let them enter the village, to which he reluctantly accepts. Nefika introduces the Sarentu to the interior of the clan's Hometree and introduces her friends, among them Relun, Koranu, and Kitangi.
Soon, the Sarentu is tasked with finding a man named Eetu at the Hunter's Rest camp. Eetu teaches the protagonist how to hunt Sturmbeest and also presents his ikran, Zomey. After returning to the Hometree, the Sarentu reunites with Nefika and makes their first attempt to negotiate with Ka'nat. The leader is unmoved by the Sarentu's suggestions that the Aranahe join the Resistance in the fight against the RDA, but Ka'nat fears that he and his clan will lose everything.
Immediately after this, the Sarentu is reunited with Etuwa at the Kinglor's Nest, where the tsahìk educates them on the problem of excessive nesting of Kinglors in the Hometree. The Sarentu suspects that this is due to the activities of the RDA. Their conversation is interrupted by Vefilu, who informs Etuwa that Eetu has disappeared. The Sarentu decides to find him and catches up with Vefilu at a Na'vi Camp, where she reveals the hunter's possible hideout. Following the clues, the Sarentu reaches Mender's Cave, where they find traces indicating a fight between Eetu, his ikran Zomey, and RDA soldiers. Reinforcements lurk near the cave, and the Sarentu fights them off with Zomey's help before finding Eetu trapped in the remains of a Dragon. After freeing him, together they search for Zomey, who was injured during the fight and flew away. After a long walk and climb, they find the ikran, who is mortally wounded. Eetu says goodbye to his ikran and then asks the Sarentu to leave him alone.
Having grown to trust the Sarentu, Nefika and Etuwa decide to subject them to the Kinglor ritual to discover the reason for the insects' excessive nesting in the Hometree. To do this, they ask the Sarentu to collect nectar from the Swamp Hive, which is necessary to prepare the niktsyey which is part of the ritual. After picking it up, they head to the Glade of Light, where Nefika and Etuwa are waiting for them. They chose this place to perform the ritual secretly from Ka'nat, who was still reluctant to do so. The Sarentu connects with the Kinglor queen with their queue and then receives a vision from the insect. She shows herself leading her subjects to feeding grounds scattered throughout the forest, but signals sent by strange levitating RDA devices prevent the insects from reaching the flowers to feed. The vision ends with the Kinglor queen in Etuwa's hand, expressing her boundless trust in the protagonist.

The Sarentu is chosen by an ikran.
After waking up from the ritual, the Sarentu tells the women what they saw, confirming Etuwa's suspicions. She decides to immediately fight the Sky People and advises the Sarentu to tame their own ikran so that they can destroy the flying devices together. So, the protagonist goes on an expedition to the ikran colony. Before entering the path to the rookery, they are greeted by Nefika and Eetu, who give them a Banshee Catcher and accompany them.
While wandering, the Sarentu encounters an ikran with whom they attempt to bond, but the animal escapes. However, Eety makes it clear that the ikran is merely testing the protagonist, and encourages them to continue climbing after the ikran. During one of the subsequent fights, the Sarentu manages to use the Banshee Catcher around the animal's mouth, but the bond is only established at the top of the trail, in the colony proper. Eetu is moved by the new bond and points out that it needs to be sealed. He then throws the Sarentu off a cliff and asks them to call for their ikran. The Sarentu follows Eetu's instructions and their mount picks them up from the air and they take their first flight together.
Shortly after, Etuwa asks to meet at Storytellers Stone, her favorite place to rest after a long flight. There, she shares her memories of her mother Asahe with the Sarentu, complains about her father Ka'nat's lack of understanding, and justifies her desire to fight the RDA.
The Sarentu engages in aerial combat against RDA flying devices hovering over Spool Island. Staying in radio contact with Priya Chen and Teylan, they first hack into the devices and then destroy them. After destroying the devices, they join Etuwa, who plans an attack on Hydro-Oil Extractor Alpha south of Rising Spire. With Etuwa, they use their ikran to destroy the facilities and fight the soldiers overseeing them, but Etuwa is injured during the fight. Her ikran Talu takes her to safety in the nearby forest and, having found them, the Sarentu decides to return to the Hometree as quickly as possible and seek help.
After arriving at the village, the Sarentu breaks the news to Ka'nat, who orders an immediate rescue expedition. However, the meeting is interrupted by the appearance of Talu, who has taken Etuwa to the Hometree with her own claws. Seeing Etuwa barely conscious, Ka'nat becomes enraged and accuses the Sarentu of endangering his daughter's life, while one of his warriors points a spear at them. This awakens Etuwa, who stops the warriors and explains to her father the reasons for the Kinglors' migration and the Sarentu's involvement in the entire plan. Only these explanations convince Ka'nat, who not only forgives the Sarentu, but finally allows the Aranahe to join the Resistance and the war against the RDA.
Zeswa Clan[]

Getting to know the Zeswa clan.
Upon learning that the Aranahe have joined the Resistance, the Olo'eykte of the Zeswa clan, Nesim, visits the headquarters and announces that the Zeswa would also like support in their fight in Colonization of the Western Frontier. Ri'nela decides to have the protagonist sent to the Upper Plains, where the Zeswa live. Nesim instructs the Sarentu to go there and fly a kite to summon the clan's tsahìk, Minang, who will give them further instructions.
After crossing the border between Kinglor Forest and the Upper Plains, the Sarentu finds a camp where a kite awaits them. They raise it and after a while Minang appears on the back of a direhorse, as well as her sister Nesim, who joins them. While the Olo'eykte wants to engage the protagonist in battle immediately, Minang cools her enthusiasm and points out that Sarentu should first learn about the Zeswa clan and their customs. One of the first tasks they are given is to tame their own direhorse and once completed, the Sarentu follows the kite trail to reach The Circle, the Zeswa's current home.
One of the first inhabitants of the Circle that the Sarentu meets is Kìn, known for his cheerfulness and his jokes that once made the entire clan laugh. Kìn tells the protagonist about the link between Zeswa and the large animals, the zakru, and the products they produce from their milk. He asks them to bring him milk and then leaves to prepare a surprise for them. During this time, the Sarentu meets, among other members: the cook Akoray, the direhorse rider Karmong, and the guardian of the young zakru, Tamu. After getting milk, they go to the stream north of the village, where Kìn introduces them to P'asuk, a friendly zakru.

Songcord[]
The Sarentu's songcord at the end of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora's main story.
The Sarentu never had the opportunity to begin building their own songcord as a child, due to their abduction when they were only a baby. So'lek realizes this and gives the Sarentu a bead in order to start their songcord. Following receiving this first bead, the Sarentu wears their songcord wrapped around their left arm.
The Sarentu collects ten beads over the course of the story.
Personality and Traits[]
Having been raised in TAP, the protagonist has an innocent, distorted, and sheltered view of Pandora. However, they are still very curious about the world and the Na'vi, wishing to learn about their stolen heritage. Having had their sister's life taken early in their life, they were forced to grow up too fast and became quite emotionally resilient and mature, and they also formed strong connections with the other surviving Sarentu.
The protagonist is shown to be incredibly brave, willing to fight against the RDA and put their life at risk. They may also be interpreted as being rebellious in this sense, likely due to resentment due to what happened to Aha'ri and wanting the RDA to face justice.
Due to not being raised among the Na'vi, the protagonist is also shown to unintentionally offend others sometimes due to being raised like the Sky People, shown when they offend Karmong by using the phrase "your direhorse," to which Karmong was annoyed and said the protagonist talks like the Sky People: as if animals are property.
Relationships[]
