- Most of Avatar: The Way of Water occurs in this year, presumably in the first half of the year.[49]

- Lo'ak befriends the tulkun Payakan after Aonung strands Lo'ak in the ocean.
- It is strongly suggested The Way of Water has a final week of sorts, which begins about halfway throughout the film, since in a deleted scene, Ardmore is seen telling Quaritch she will give him a SeaDragon for only one week to search for Jake. Additionally, Ronal is heavily pregnant when she chastises Lo'ak for bonding with Payakan. From this point on, many condensed events occur in a short period of time:

Norm contributes to the exhibition and is featured in video recordings.
- The Avatar Network is created to encourage unaffiliated experts and interested civilians to help contribute to the PRF knowledge base.
- The PRF (having broken off from the RDA admist internal disillusionment) starts laying the groundwork for future eco-tourism on Pandora.
- Humans begin mass programs and projects in an effort to restore Earth's biosphere as the extinction event becomes exponential for humanity; part of which is using the Amino Tank technology to revive extinct Terran species.

TikTok birth month implications[]
In 2024, the Avatar TikTok released a video matching characters with certain months. The video does not mention why these characters are associated with these months, but Jake is August. In the first film, Jake mentioned his birthday is in August, suggesting these truly are the birth months of the characters. Lightstorm / Joshua Izzo have yet to mention if these are their canon birth months. The video mentions:
- January: Lo'ak (suggesting January 2156)
- February: Tuk (suggesting February 2163)
- March: Tsireya (suggesting March 2157)
- April: Kiri (suggesting April 2156)
- May: Aonung (suggesting May 2155)
- June: Neytiri
- July: Ronal
- August: Jake Sully
- September: Tonowari
- October: Spider (suggesting October 2153)
- November: Neteyam (suggesting November 2155)
- December: Mo'at
It is a fact that part of The Way of Water occurs in 2170, and that some characters likely have their birthdays during the events of the film as shown by the progression of Ronal's pregnancy. The ages of the characters were also given in The Visual Dictionary. These birth months could be plausible if the Mag-Lev raid occurred in January 2170, the Sullys moved to the reefs in February/March 2170, and the Skirmish at the Three Brothers occurred in November/December. Spider must be the oldest of the children at 16, Neteyam is mentioned as being 15, while Kiri and Lo'ak are mentioned as being 14. There are still various lore implications if the months are their birth months:
- Lo'ak being born only a few months after Neteyam: It is unknown how Na'vi pregnancies work, but it is said they can have one to ten offspring, suggesting their bodies are designed to carry more than one child in the womb, and Lo'ak's conception may not have interfered with Neteyam's. In The Way of Water original script, it is said that that Na'vi infants are contained within pods in the womb, thus Neteyam and Lo'ak could have been in their own individual pods.
- Grace's long pregnancy: If Kiri is an April birth, then she must be born in April 2156 since Neteyam must be older than Kiri. Kiri being in Grace's womb for about a year-and-a-half could be explained by Grace being contained with an amnio tank, or possibly Kiri's body needing longer to develop to being implied to be genetically encoded with Eywa's DNA.
- Lo'ak missing on Neytiri's songcord: Lo'ak's could be missing between Neteyam's and Kiri's verses on his mother's songcord due to him being possessing human genes. The Way of Water script mentions Neytiri has secret shame about her children having human DNA. Kiri may have been included on the songcord due to her being an adopted daughter, which may make Neytiri feel less ashamed of her than Lo'ak.
- Following the logic, the Skirmish at the Three Brothers would occur in either November or December, as Neteyam must have at least reached the age of 15 during the events of The Way of Water. This would also mean Neteyam was 14 for most of the film.
- Spider would have also reached the age of 17 by the end of the film, and would be 17 during Fire and Ash.

- ↑ The Avatar site mentions there are 13 years instead of 14 years between the final battle of Avatar and the Sky People returning. 2154 + 13 is 2167, but this is too low considering the "one year later" claim in The Way of Water since The Way of Water must also be set in 2170 provided the Tuktirey information. Because the final battle was set near the end of 2154, it can be rounded up to 2155 which makes both claims make sense, using the logic that a length such as "a year and 4 months" or even "a year and 7 months" can simply be rounded down to "one year later" for the convenience of storytelling. Additionally, Spider says the battle was 14 years ago during The High Ground, suggesting 2168 because 2168 - 14 = 2154, the year of the battle.
- ↑ While Jake mentions 15 years have passed in The High Ground (volume 2), So'lek's Journey (issue 5) shows the RDA is already on Pandora in 2168.
- ↑ Avatar: The Way of Water: The Visual Dictionary mentions Tuktirey was born in 2163 and is also 7 years old, meaning it's impossible for the movie to be set before 2170.
- ↑ Although a year has not been provided, Lily Reese is said to have "not been on Pandora 16 years ago".
