Tonowari and Ronal prepare for battle

The skirmish about to begin

  • Most of Avatar: The Way of Water occurs in this year, presumably in the first half of the year.[48]
    • Months pass as the Sully family stays with the Metkayina clan, and Ronal's pregnancy progresses. The children learn how to freedive and about the marine life in the Eastern Sea.
    • Lo'ak befriends the tulkun Payakan after Aonung strands Lo'ak in the ocean.
  • It is strongly suggested The Way of Water has a final week of sorts, which begins about halfway throughout the film, since in a deleted scene, Ardmore is seen telling Quaritch she will give him a SeaDragon for only one week to search for Jake. Additionally, Ronal is heavily pregnant when she chastises Lo'ak for bonding with Payakan. From this point on, many condensed events occur in a short period of time:
  • Avatar: Fire and Ash occurs after a few weeks after The Way of Water according to a press release.
  • Avatar: Reckoning is suggested to begin this year, but it is unclear when and what is canon from Reckoning.[49] The War of the Wetlands occurs, killing Tiaru.

2175[]

2179[]

  • On June 20th, a batch of emergency oxygen, which was on Pandora in 2154, expires.[51]

Near Future[]

After a six year trip back to Earth, the Pandoran Research Foundation starts the Avatar: Discover Pandora exhibition, with samples collected by Avatar Program scientists, to educate people on Earth about Pandora.[52] The exhibit is one of many PRF projects intended to teach Earth civilians about environmental concerns using Pandora as a point of comparison. Norm contributes to the exhibition and is featured in video recordings.
The Avatar Network is created to encourage unaffiliated experts and interested civilians to help contribute to the PRF knowledge base.
The PRF (having broken off from the RDA admist internal disillusionment) starts laying the groundwork for future eco-tourism on Pandora.
Humans begin mass programs and projects in an effort to restore Earth's biosphere as the extinction event becomes exponential for humanity; part of which is using the Amino Tank technology to revive extinct Terran species.

Distant Future[]

Ogden Avatar

Jaclyn Ogden in her avatar

  • Generations after the human-Na'vi conflicts,[53] humans are being welcomed back to Pandora.[54]
  • Human expats start having children on Pandora, ushering in the first generation of humans born on the moon.[55]
  • Alpha Centauri Expeditions begins offering civilian eco-tourism trips to Pandora.[56]
The events of Pandora: The World of Avatar.
  • By this point, Jaclyn Ogden has found a way to overcome the DNA limitations of the avatars.

  46. The Avatar site mentions there are 13 years instead of 14 years between the final battle of Avatar and the Sky People returning. 2154 + 13 is 2167, but this is too low considering the "one year later" claim in The Way of Water since The Way of Water must also be set in 2170 provided the Tuktirey information. Because the final battle was set near the end of 2154, it can be rounded up to 2155 which makes both claims make sense, using the logic that a length such as "a year and 4 months" or even "a year and 7 months" can simply be rounded down to "one year later" for the convenience of storytelling. Additionally, Spider says the battle was 14 years ago during The High Ground, suggesting 2168 because 2168 - 14 = 2154, the year of the battle.
  47. While Jake mentions 15 years have passed in Avatar: The High Ground (Volume 2), So'lek's Journey (Issue 5) shows the RDA is already on Pandora in 2168.
  48. Avatar: The Way of Water: The Visual Dictionary mentions Tuktirey was born in 2163 and is also 7 years old, meaning it's impossible for the movie to be set before 2170.
  49. Although a year has not been provided, Lily Reese is said to have "not been on Pandora 16 years ago".
