I just want to keep my family safe.Jake Sully justifying his request of uturu
Uturu is a Na'vi tradition stating that any refugee seeking sanctuary must be granted safe harbor.[1]
In 2170, Jake Sully's family sought uturu with the Metkayina village of Awa'atlu. In the beginning, the Olo'eyktan Tonowari and the Tsahìk Ronal were reluctant about providing shelter for them due to the evident anatomical differences with the Omatikaya and the possible threat of war. The precarious situation of Jake's family seemed to make them reconsider their decision, providing uturu on the sole condition that they had to learn the ways of the Metkayina to avoid being a burden to the clan.[2]
