Walker was one of a dozen resurrected SecOps mercenaries as part of Project Phoenix. She was a Recombinant member of the 1st Recom Unit under the command of Recom Quaritch, serving as a communicator for the team.

Biography[]

Walker was once a human SecOps operative serving under Colonel Miles Quaritch in 2154. At some point during the Battle of Ayram Alusìng, she was killed in action. Two hours prior to her death, Walker had her memories uploaded onto a Soul Drive, which was then sent back to Earth during the expulsion of the Resources Development Administration from Pandora. This copied consciousness was then downloaded into Walker's Recombinant in 2169 aboard the ISV Vindicator.

When the recom unit tried to capture the Sully children and was ambushed by Jake and Neytiri, Walker tried to stop Kiri from escaping by grabbing her queue before she was attacked and shot in the chest by Neytiri with an arrow, killing her once again. Quaritch then took Walker's gun for himself in order to fight the Sully family. Walker was the third member in the group to be killed again.

Trivia[]

  • Walker is one of the two female members of Project Phoenix, along with Zdinarsik. Both are killed by Neytiri.
  • Walker is not mentioned in the film's screenplay. Additionally, Zdinarsik was originally male in the screenplay. The addition of Walker and Zdinarsik's gender change may have been done to include more female villains into the Avatar series. Frances Ardmore was originally a man as well.
  • She wields the Y70 Bullpup Rifle customized with a grenade launcher, and the Z-33 Pistol.
  • She can be seen curling a dumbbell during Quaritch's speech.
  • When Quaritch is watching the video of his human self, a woman can be seen with an outfit resembling Walker's. She also has no tattoos, unlike Zdinarsik, suggesting it very well could be Walker as a human. She is also seen touching Lyle Wainfleet, suggesting they could be a couple or close friends.
  • A concept image shows that Walker's full name is "Maria Walker", which is the same name of her actress. However, it is unclear how canon this name is.
  • Recom Walker's death parallels the death of human Walker, who previously died during the Battle of Ayram Alusìng; both versions of the character were killed within the same area of the Pandoran forest 15 years apart while being commanded by their equivalent version of the character Colonel Miles Quaritch.
  • Walker was named Gomez at some point during production.[1]
