Welcome to the Resistance is the third main quest in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Description[]
Locate the Resistance Headquarters[]
After So'lek's departure, the Sarentu is left with directions to Resistance Headquarters. Located at the top of a waterfall, the Sarentu must find a way to scale the cliff. Lift vines aid the main character in ascending, and the climb teaches that closed vines can be made to drop their vine by shooting them with an arrow.
Approach So'lek at Resistance Headquarters[]
At the end of the climb, Resistance Headquarters is a short ways ahead. Approaching So'lek, who is standing and knocking at the door into HQ, triggers a cutscene.
Priya Chen can be seen through the door's window gesticulating and speaking, though the soundproof door prevents the main character from hearing what she is saying, which So'lek points out with exasperation. Priya runs off with a sheepish smile, then the door opens, and So'lek and the main character walk inside.
Priya explains that the air filter got stuck, which locked the doors, but according to Jin it should be fixed. She excitedly and awkwardly greets the Sarentu, attempting to speak Na'vi but accidentally butchering the language. So'lek stares quietly, not saying anything, and the cutscene ends.
Talk to Alma and Teylan in the Command Center[]
After Priya's awkward greeting, she shuffles away trying to reassure herself that her greeting went well. The Sarentu continues on to HQ's Command Center, where Alma and Teylan are waiting. Approaching them triggers a cutscene.
Teylan remarks that he heard the shooting at TAP and fled with Alma and the others. He asks about the main character's wellbeing, to which the main character credits So'lek for their safety. The Sarentu asks about Ri'nela and Nor, and Teylan explains that they also made it out of TAP safe, but that they wanted to spend time outdoors, but he worries that the outdoors are dangerous.
Alma soothes Teylan's concerns, but then the Sarentu asks about TAP's dilapidated condition. Alma explains that Mercer destroyed the facility when he and other RDA elements evacuated. She assumed all the TAP students she preserved in cryo died in the collapse of the facility, at least until Priya intercepted RDA chatter about a signal being detected at TAP.
The Sarentu then questions how long they and the other students were in cryo. Alma replies that they were sleeping for nearly sixteen years. At Teylan's shock, Alma expresses her regret at failing her students and promises not to do the same again. Alma quickly changes the subject, urging Teylan to take the Sarentu on a tour of Resistance HQ.
Walk with Teylan to Rajinder in the Living Quarters[]
The Sarentu must follow Teylan on a tour. They discuss the revelation of how long they were both asleep. Teylan seems to want to move on, mentioning that he enjoys Resistance Headquarters and can see it becoming his home. He particularly likes the technology available to him.
Teylan, at the end of a short walk, introduces the main character to Rajinder Singh Grewal, known to everyone as simply Raj.
Talk to Rajinder in the Living Quarters[]
Talking to Rajinder triggers a cutscene.
The main character greets Rajinder as Raj, to which he coldly replies, "It's Rajinder." After an awkward apology from the main character and a stern reminder that Rajinder "doesn't know" them and so they are unworthy of his nickname, he smiles and laughs, implying that his earlier chilly disposition was a joke. He states that he has fresh clothes available for the main character to wear, and pokes fun at their lack of a sense of humor.
Receive new gear from Rajinder in the Living Quarters[]
Rajinder is now able to be traded with, and now operates as a merchant.
The player character receives the Researcher Shirt and Field Waistcloth as gifts, free of charge. Though other items are visible in the shop, the player does not yet have enough Spare Parts to purchase most of them.
Change into Na'vi clothing[]
Through the character menu, the player can change into the clothing they received from Rajinder. The TAP clothing — the Ambassador Shirt and Ambassador Cargo Pants — that the main character is wearing is lost after this. Putting on the clothes from Rajinder elevates the player character to Combat Strength level 2.
The player is also awarded the crafting recipes to both the shirt and waistcloth they were given.
Follow Teylan to Maintenance[]
Teylan takes the Sarentu to a different area of HQ. On the way, he muses that he would like to keep his hat and other parts of clothing from TAP rather than throwing them away. He also talks about Alexander Tremayne, who he calls Alex, and mentions how he admires him for being an inventor. He states that he settled in so fast because of the kindness of the Resistance members.
Once Teylan stops in front of Alex, a cutscene is triggered.
Equip SID[]
Teylan introduces Alex to the main character, mentioning all the different devices Alex has built. Alex mentions his latest invention: the Systems Interrogation Device, or SID. He gives one to the main character and one to Teylan, asking both of them to test it for him. The game then teaches the player how to use the device.
Use SID to fix the node in Maintenance[]
The Sarentu uses SID to help fix the faulty wiring in the air filtration, the problem that prevented the doors from opening at the start of the quest. SID highlights the wiring under the floor and allows the main character to follow the wires to the proper maintenance panels.
Alex states that there is still a fault upstairs and asks the Sarentu to take a look for him.
Use SID to find the fault upstairs in the Resistance Headquarters[]
After arriving at the faulty node, Alex asks the Sarentu to hack into it for him with SID.
Use SID to hack the faulty node in the Resistance Headquarters[]
The Sarentu must find the correct frequency with SID to start the hack, and then they enter an interface with a short maze-like minigame where completing the maze completes the 'hack.'
Alex praises the Sarentu for helping, and then tells them that Alma is gathering everyone for a briefing. He mentions that the other TAP students are still outside, and sends the Sarentu to retrieve them.
Meet the Sarentu outside Resistance Headquarters[]
The other Sarentu are below Resistance Headquarters, sheltering in a small cave. Approaching them triggers a cutscene.
Ri'nela talks about her joy at being outside, and how new everything feels to her after TAP and Mercer stifled her culture. The Sarentu reassures her about rediscovering their culture.
Ri'nela asks why Alma didn't come to wake them up earlier, to which Teylan theorizes that maybe it wasn't safe before. Nor cuts off the debate by celebrating his freedom and suggesting that all of them leave the Resistance. Teylan is skeptical, asking where they would go, but Nor brushes off his concerns and says that they could go anywhere they wanted.
The Sarentu urges the others to go inside to see what Alma has to say instead. Nor criticizes Alma, saying that she wants to control all of them. Ri'nela disputes this, supporting Alma and reminding Nor that Alma was always kind to them. Teylan brings up how kind the Resistance is, explaining that Priya even let him use her radio.
Teylan eventually convinces Nor to come with him to see what Alma wants.
Go to the briefing in the Command Center[]
The character returns to the Command Center, and triggers a cutscene.
Alma briefs the attendees on John Mercer, having a dossier of him up on a screen behind her as she speaks. She also mentions Angela Harding, Mercer's head of security, and pulls up a dossier on her as well.
So'lek expresses doubt about how threatening Mercer is, and Alma states that he has aggressive tactics and is likely seeking revenge after the failures of TAP.
Alma then brings up Resistance outreach efforts to the Aranahe Clan and Zeswa Clan, but explains how both efforts have failed. Her plan is to send the main character out as a diplomat, which their people historically acted as. Their mission is to convince the other clans to join the Resistance.
Priya brings up a spike of pollution nearby. She explains that pollution is caused by RDA machinery, and is nervous that they are so close to Resistance HQ. The Sarentu offers to shut down the RDA site. Though Alma doubts the Sarentu can handle themselves, So'lek speaks in their favor after seeing them fight earlier.
Defeat Pneumatic Tower Echo[]
So'lek informs the Sarentu that there are supplies near the main airlock. The player can collect these before setting off, or forego them.
Once the main character has arrived at the site, they contact Priya on their radio. Priya explains the pollution to them and tells them how to shut down the tower — the player character must destroy the site's generator and then hack and destroy the tower's cooling unit. After that, the emergency flare must be destroyed. The player can either complete the tower's objectives stealthily, or kill the RDA soldiers guarding it.
A short cutscene plays after destroying the site, which is standard after the destruction of RDA sites.
After destroying the tower, Teylan contacts the player character and asks about the loud bang. He states that he is outside with Ri'nela and Nor, and mentions finding a tarsyu. Though the others are excited about this discovery, he is apprehensive. He asks the Sarentu to come look at it.
