The yoten is a colorful reptilian creature that lives in the Kinglor Forest. Able to climb trees much like a chameleon, it curls up into a ball when threatened and rolls rapidly away using its closely arranged back scales for friction.[1]
Anatomy[]
The yoten is squat in stature, crawling on six legs. Each leg ends in a three fingered hand with clawed digits. A prominent pair of brow ridges can be seen on the head, which is connected to the pairs of ridges on its back. The ridges behind the eyes range dramatically in size from minuscule to gigantic. The chin features two curved protrusions that angle slightly off to the side. The neck is highly folder and wrinkled, with a row of small, nubby spikes lining the middle of the neck. The tail is quite long, featuring three tail flukes. The creature breathes through a pair of operculum located at the base of the neck. It's neural queues extend from the back of the lower jaw. Its pupils are horizontally slit, similar to the terran goat.[2]
Use by the Na'vi[]
While the Na’vi are a highly mobile species in themselves, they have been seen employing wrist and shinguards made from yoten skin that enhance their natural climbing abilities and allow them to hang on to trees and cliffsides for extended periods of time while hunting or laying an ambush.[1]
